Our collaboration is rooted in a series of walks and observations through cities and landscapes, seeking inspiration from the intelligence of longstanding traditions and the simplicity of the everyday. We believe that architecture can provide a rich and undivided experience for all inhabitants and is able to unite past, present and future in a meaningful way.

This aspiration is reflected in our rational romantic approach to every design task at hand. We look carefully at what is already in place, before making a proposal for the new. We think of what is logical, before shaping the notable. Striving to produce clear, sustainable and buildable plans that, simultaneously, demonstrate sensitivity to the well-being of communities, the needs of local culture, aesthetics and overall atmosphere.

Common Practice is founded by Inara Nevskaya and Jurrien van Duijkeren and is based in the Spaarndammerbuurt, Amsterdam. Our team has a collective competence in projects of diverse scale and function, with expertise across all phases of the building process.
